Setting the Stage with Eric Caldwell – Improv Workshop
There are decisions that performers make (or, often, fail to make) before setting foot on stage that have a critical impact on how the audience receives their show. This workshop will help attendees understand and implement the kinds of conscious choices that can help an ensemble command the stage and guide the audience groupmind into the desired headspace. Areas that this workshop will address include: stage entrances, costume/clothing choices, technical elements, and dramaturgy.
Eric Caldwell has been performing, producing, and directing improv since 2003 as a founding member of Juneau, Alaska’s Morally Improv-erished, Inc. and was the longtime producer of the Alaska State Improv Festival. His productions have appeared at sixteen festivals across the United States and he has performed as part of the invitation-only international ensemble at Slapdash Improv Festival in London, UK.
Eric’s specialty is designing shows to fit the performers at hand, which has led to integrating theater, slam poetry, vintage science fiction, Discordianism, television, psychology, and a slew of other interests into improvisational shows. He has yet to perform a traditional Harold.
Workshop is intended for intermediate to advanced experienced improvisors. Workshop is limited to those 18+.
